Hi, I’m Amber!
I'm a textile artist and a creativity researcher based in Melbourne Australia.
Creativity Research
I'm a PhD student in the Psychology department at Swinburne University of Technology. My project examines the relationships between sleep problems (i.e., delayed sleep phase and sleep onset insomnia), sensory sensitivities, and three different aspects of creativity.
Textile Art
I'm a textile artist. I make artworks using traditional and contemporary quilting techniques, including improvised and paper piecing, and both machine and hand stitching quilting techniques. My work incorporates bright colours and lots of negative space, overlaid with dense geometric stitching.
Teaching
I work as a tutor and marker for a range of undergraduate psychology units (e.g., Psychology of Personality and Mental Health Diversity). I have also presented guest lectures on the topic of Individual Differences in Mental Ability from an inclusive and diversity-affirming perspective.
Performing Arts
I have a diverse range of experience within the performing arts sector, including working as a performance artist, a musical theatre actor, a costume designer, and a creative producer for music, theatre, and comedy productions and festivals, in both Australia and the United Kingdom.
I also collect and cultivate Hoyas. Click here to view my collection.
